Providers

Dr. Teresa Knight OB/GYN, is a board certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Born and raised in Northern California, Dr. Knight completed her undergraduate education at U.C. Berkeley, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Integrative Biology and a minor in Women’s Studies. While attending college she received recognition for her contribution to the development of a traveling health clinic for the homeless.   Dr Knight came to St Louis and earned a Master’s degree in Anatomy and Neurobiology from Saint Louis University where she also attended Medical School. In addition to her medical accomplishments, Dr. Knight is a mother, speaks Spanish and she is a licensed pilot.

Dr Knight currently is a practicing Ob/Gyn and is the CEO of Women’s Health Specialists of Saint Louis and is the current Medical Director for the Family Planning Clinic of Franklin County.  In addition to her medical practice, Dr Knight has contributed to the development of international medical technology as a consultant and routinely works on international women’s health issues. She is the past medical director for Unite The World With Africa and has worked in Tanzania providing women’s health training for medical providers. She also worked for the US Embassy in Malaysia on women’s health issues. Dr. Knight is sought after as a national speaker.  In 2015,  she lobbied on Capitol Hill about our national health care system. She currently makes a monthly appearance on Great Day Saint Louis and she has been featured on “Birthday”, a Discovery Health Channel program and has made an appearance on NBC Nightly News. She was also the co-host of Body Language, a national radio program.

Dr. Knight is passionate about women’s health and she sees her career as a privilege.  She enjoys the opportunity to educate women about their bodies, in particular about hormonal changes that occur throughout each month and throughout the lifetime.  It is Dr Knight’s hope that through her contributions, she can help women everywhere be better educated, in better health, and empowered.

Dr. Julia K Phillips, OB/GYN, is a practicing Obstetrician/Gynecologist. She was born and raised in Northern California and completed her bachelor’s degree in cell & molecular biology at U.C. Santa Cruz. She furthered her education in Washington, DC, completing her M.D. at Georgetown University School of Medicine. During her time at Georgetown she was tirelessly committed to her work in the Hoya Clinic when she wasn’t in the classroom. She came to St. Louis and completed her OB/GYN residency at Mercy Hospital, St. Louis, during which she fell in love with the city and the people of St. Louis.

Dr. Phillips specializes in Obstetrics, currently focusing the vast majority of her time on pregnant patients. Her combination of knowledge, professionalism, and compassion has allowed her to excel early in her career both in the eyes of her patients and her peers.

Dr. Phillips has always a true passion for women’s health, having set her mind to being an OB/GYN as early as elementary school. Outside of the office, she and her husband recently welcomed their first child to the world and enjoy spending as much time as possible with him. Dr. Phillips loves to get outside, enjoying bicycling, snowboarding, water skiing, and adventuring to new places in her free time. With her gentle nature and passion for women’s health, she looks forward to the opportunity to care for you.

Deanna Woodroffe NP, holds a master’s degree in Nursing and is board certified as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. She began her career as a Labor & Delivery nurse at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center and has been a nurse practitioner with Women’s Health Specialists for almost 10 years.

Her practice style emphasizes a holistic approach, combining both traditional and alternative medicine and focusing on the cause of health issues instead of only treating symptoms.

Deanna has a passion for functional medicine and is currently completing a fellowship in functional medicine with A4M, the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine.

Deanna’s goal is to empower women to take charge of their health and to help guide them in the necessary steps toward optimal health and wellness. “You can feel better. Tonya Gaither DoulaTonya  Gaither, Doula, is a certified labor and birth doula and is also a postpartum doula and a lactation counselor. Along with courses in continuing education, she relies on experience as a mother of 5 in her care of mothers. Tonya’s personal history includes birthing with an epidural, naturally, and 60 months of breastfeeding spaced over the 5 children. Her passion is to come along side families, supporting them through the amazing time of welcoming new life from pregnancy, through labor and birth and into postpartum.

Her journey to becoming a doula began through the birth of her own children.Delving into everything regarding childbirth and breastfeeding, she desired to share all of the information with others.  She knew that she wanted to help other mothers realize their own strength, standing with them through their own amazing journeys.

Tonya has a passion to assist moms, not only through the birth, but through the process of breastfeeding. This process can begin prior to birth, through education and preparation for the experience coming after baby is born.
