Resiliency Examined

Resiliency is the ability to withstand or recover quickly from difficult
conditions, to bounce back wiser, stronger, and more empowered.

Who doesn’t want to have more of that?

In matters of health and successful weight loss, resiliency can be the key to success or failure when we are knocked off course by stress or injury. It’s easy to slip back to our
“default” mode behaviors~ eating comfort foods, avoiding exercise, losing sleep ~ to cope.

A resilient person quickly regains their footing, learns from the situation,
and returns to their new, healthy lifestyle.

Resiliency is an important trait in any journey toward health improvements.
Changing behaviors and making positive shifts to healthier daily choices
around what we eat and how we move typically takes many months of
repetition to fully integrate the new patterns into a permanent lifestyle.
The process most often involves lots of trial and error even amongst the
most determined of us.  It’s how we respond when we get off-track that is
critical. Not allowing a lapse to turn into a relapse is what keeps us
moving toward the best, healthiest versions of ourselves.

While the path may often be crooked, it’s the ability to forgive, learn and adjust that
matters most.

As the wise Japanese proverb urges, “Fall down seven times, get up eight.

To your good health!
